Executive Summary
Team UBC is redefining modular construction with the innovative use of MWF StrucSoft software and Howick Ltd machinery. Our latest project showcases the efficiency and precision that can be achieved with advanced BIM services and state-of-the-art manufacturing technology. By pre-assembling the building offsite and utilizing detailed BIM modeling, we minimized onsite construction time, reduced disruptions, and delivered a high-quality, structurally sound product that exceeded client expectations.
Software and Machine Used
MWF StrucSoft Software
We utilized MWF StrucSoft, a powerful 3D BIM software, to design, detail, and coordinate the entire structure of our modular building. This software allowed our team to create detailed models and construction plans, ensuring every component fit together perfectly.
Howick Ltd Machinery
To produce the Light Gauge Steel frames, we employed Howick Ltd’s CNC machinery, specifically the Howick Frama 3200 and Howick Frama 5600. These Machines are renowned for their reliability and accuracy, ensuring each component was manufactured to precise specifications.
Problem Targeted
Traditional construction methods often face challenges such as extended project timelines, significant onsite disruptions, and logistical complexities. Our modular construction approach, supported by BIM services and advanced machinery.
- Reducing Construction Time: Offsite pre- assembly and rapid onsite installation significantly shorten the project timeline.
- Minimizing Disruptions: By completing most of the construction offsite, we reduce the impact on the final location.
- Enhancing Precision: Advanced BIM modeling and precise manufacturing ensure that each component fits seamlessly, reducing errors and rework.
Modular Construction Process
Our modular construction process began with meticulous design and planning using MWF StrucSoft software. Leveraging its robust BIM 3D modeling and design capabilities, we created detailed construction plans. Our team, proficient in BIM 360 document management, ensured precise models and coordinated every project aspect for a streamlined workflow. The components were then assembled together in the factory to create this ”modular block”, which was then seamlessly transported and placed onsite using a crane, minimizing onsite construction time and disruptions. Post- installation, thorough quality checks, including BIM model verification, ensured the building met the highest standards, showcasing our commitment to excellence in BIM services and consulting.
